Tuesday -
Social Assistance Session
Sociaal Assistance Session at the Salvation Army moves up to Tuesday
Hilversum - Starting May 26th, 2009, the Salvation Army's Social Assistance
session
(Bussumerstraat 27 a/b, 1211 BH Hilversum) is running every Tuesday, as of
now, from
10 A.M. until 1 P.M. Due to organisational reasons, it was
necessary to move up Wednesday's session to Tuesday.
Since mid-2008, the Hilversum Chapter has been
running a Social Assistance Hourly Session. In 2008 alone, around 70
individuals already employed this assistance.
Given the limited opening hours and the vast time, and the social worker -
client ratio, this
is considerable. Also, in 2009 up until now, the Social Assistance
Session has appealed to
a weekly average of 4 individuals.
Those seeking assistance may put forth their questions dealing with a broad
range of issues: filling in forms,
assisting with debt problems , housing issues, feeding issues, etc.
A professional social-worker is prepared to listen to peoples' situations and
to try to answer any questions in order to help people progress.
Until now, the Social Assistance Session has been paired up with Soup Day on
Wednesdays. However, starting Tuesday, May 26th, it runs
simultaneously alongside the weekly mealtime project and Open House.
An appointment is not required. People may simply show up at their own
convenience.
In the case that people are required to wait a bit, it's a comfortable and
relaxing atmosphere at the Salvation Army building.
Coffee and tea is made available in the adjacent room where Open House is
realized on Tuesdays (as well as Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays).
In addition, it is a great place to meet others.
In order to participate in tuesday's meal, it's obligatory to either sign-up
and reserve a
spot by telephone or by adding your name to the list in the entry-hall of
the Corps building.
A delicious 3-course menu costs just 5,00 euro.
